Creamy shrimp alfredo made with tender shrimp, garlic butter, heavy cream, and real Parmesan. Rich, comforting, and ready in about 20 minutes. Restaurant-style without the stress.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

12 oz fettuccine pasta

1 lb large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tbsp unsalted butter

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 ½ cups heavy cream

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

½ tsp kosher salt

½ tsp black pepper

½ tsp smoked paprika

Pinch of cayenne pepper

½ cup reserved pasta water

Fresh parsley, optional

Instructions

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the fettuccine until al dente. Reserve pasta water before draining.

2. Season the shrimp with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne.

3. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.

4. Lower the heat and add garlic to the same skillet. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

5. Pour in the heavy cream and let it gently simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring often.

6. Add Parmesan gradually, stirring until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.

7. Add cooked pasta to the sauce and toss, adding pasta water as needed to loosen.

8. Return shrimp to the pan and gently fold everything together.

9. Remove from heat, adjust seasoning, and finish with black pepper and parsley.

Notes

Use freshly grated Parmesan for the smoothest sauce.

Do not let the cream boil aggressively or the sauce may break.

Shrimp cook very quickly, so pull them early.

A splash of pasta water fixes most sauce issues.
