A cozy, nostalgic Honey Ginger Chicken with a warm glossy sauce, tender chicken, and a comforting sweet-gingery balance perfect for weeknights.

  • Total Time: 25 min
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1.5–2 lbs chicken thighs

1/3 cup honey

3 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp fresh grated ginger

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp sesame oil

1–2 tbsp neutral cooking oil

Green onions, sliced

Sesame seeds, optional

Instructions

1. Whisk together honey, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, and sesame oil.

2. Add chicken and marinate 30 minutes to 6 hours.

3. Heat cooking oil in a skillet until shimmering.

4. Sear chicken until lightly browned.

5. Pour the marinade over chicken and bring to a simmer.

6. Cook 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce becomes glossy.

7. Let the chicken rest 5 minutes before slicing.

8. Spoon glaze over top, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

If the glaze thickens too much, add 1 tbsp water to loosen.

Use fresh ginger for best flavor; older ginger tastes sharp or metallic.

Warm plates help keep the glaze silky.

Leftovers taste even better the next day.
